The Potain MCT 1105 tower crane and the Grove GMK6300L-1 all-terrain crane claimed three top prizes at the 2024 Construction Machinery Middle East Awards, which took place in Dubai, UAE, on 13 June. The Potain crane received both the ‘Tower Crane of the Year’ and ‘Crane of the Year’ awards, while the Grove crane was honored as ‘Mobile Crane of the Year.’

Both cranes can be seen working hard on construction sites across the Middle East—from Turkey to Saudi Arabia and North African countries.

Andrew Youssef, general manager for Manitowoc in the Middle East, Africa, and CIS, said winning a Construction Machinery ME award is a distinction that carries a lot of credibility with customers and crane industry professionals.

“These awards underscore the daily dedication of our teams at our Wilhelmshaven, Germany, and Zhangjiagang, China, factories, and also of our fantastic Middle East team,” he said. “Customer input was key in developing the MCT 1105 and the GMK6300L-1. These are top-of-the-line machines that are already making a huge impact on important construction projects in the Middle East and many other regions of the world.”

Manufactured at Manitowoc’s Zhangjiagang, China, factory, the MCT 1105 is the largest topless crane from Potain. The crane has a maximum freestanding height under hook of 69.7 m, a maximum capacity of 50 t, and a maximum working radius of 80 m. Tip capacity is impressive: the MCT 1105 will lift up to 11 t at the end of its 80 m jib. When equipped with the full 80 m jib, the MCT 1105 can lift 50 t to 21.8 m radius, a full 5 m further than its predecessor.

The GMK6300L-1 is a widely used crane in the global construction industry, and it has been employed in various noteworthy projects. It has a 300 t capacity and boasts remarkable strength, able to lift 14 t at the full extension of its 80 m MEGAFORM® main boom. Its six-axle design guarantees stability and high performance even in challenging conditions. Recently, one of these cranes even came to the rescue at an incident at the Istanbul Airport.
